On September 22, 2020, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the general debate of the 75th UN General Assembly, stressing that China will increase its national independent contribution, adopt more powerful policies and measures, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

Carbon neutrality refers to the calculation of the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions directly or indirectly generated by enterprises, groups or individuals within a certain period of time, through afforestation, energy conservation and emission reduction, to offset their own carbon dioxide emissions, to achieve "zero emissions" of carbon dioxide ". To achieve carbon neutrality, there are generally two ways: one is to remove greenhouse gases in a special way, such as carbon compensation. The second is to use renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions.

This is the first time that China has clearly achieved carbon neutrality in the world, and it is also the largest climate commitment made by all countries so far to reduce the expected global warming. The Paris Agreement, which entered into force in November 2016, aims to achieve global carbon neutrality between 2051 and 2100. At the same time, the global average temperature rise above the pre-industrial level should be controlled within 2 degrees Celsius, and efforts should be made to control the temperature rise within 1.5 degrees Celsius. China's proposal to strive for carbon neutrality by 2060 is a proactive upgrade to the original goal of the Paris Agreement.

At present, China accounts for about 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The Chinese government promises to stop increasing carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 or even before, and at the same time, the share of fossil fuels in China's energy will drop to about 80% by 2030. To this end, the country continues to accelerate the development of renewable energy.

In addition, in recent years, straw burning has emitted a large amount of air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and inhalable particulate matter, which has aggravated urban smog. Using straw as raw material to make plant fiber molding related products can effectively solve the problem of straw open burning.

The use of 1 ton of straw fiber can directly reduce carbon emissions by more than 3 tons. At present, there are 0.8 billion tons of straw in rural areas of the country each year, while China consumes more than 0.1 billion tons of plant fiber each year. The proportion of straw fibrosis in the comprehensive utilization of straw is still small, but its development potential is immeasurable.

At present, straw plant fiber molded products are still in the stage of research and development and verification, and relevant technologies are rapidly maturing. Interested friends can scan the following two-dimensional code, comment on the comprehensive utilization of straw, and learn more.
