A few days ago, the tubular packaging of paper cosmetics developed by L 'Oré al Group in cooperation with Albéa, a packaging supplier for beauty products, will be put into use for the first time on the new 200 ml moisturizing sunscreen lotion of L 'Oré al Group's brand, and will be the first to be listed in France and then on the global market. A spokesman for L'Oréal said it was "the first step in record time" for both sides ". And this is not the only application of paper cosmetic tubular packaging, and will be applied to more brands of products in the future.

In addition, the food industry has already put "paper instead of plastic" into practice. More and more takeaway catering businesses begin to choose paper packaging, while enterprises have launched safer and healthier paper products through technological innovation.

The ban on plastic has become a global boom.

As people's awareness of the hazards and environmental impacts of plastic products continues to increase, at the beginning of this year, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the ''Catalogue of Plastic Products Prohibited, Restricted Production, Sales and Use (Draft for Comment) ''This means that by the end of 2022, the consumption of disposable plastic products in my country will be significantly reduced.

It is not only China that has taken measures, but the ban on plastics has become a global boom. The European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and other places have issued a timetable for a total ban on disposable plastics. Some well-known brands have also followed suit and proposed plans to ban plastics to suppliers.

In this case, the voice of "replacing plastic with paper" in various industries is getting higher and higher. In order to meet the health needs of consumers, relevant enterprises have begun to introduce paper products instead of plastic products.

The rise of paper cosmetics packaging

In addition to the tubular packaging of paper cosmetics launched by L'Oreal, in the domestic market, some new cosmetics brands have also begun to adopt the packaging strategy of "replacing plastic with paper. The reporter found on the e-commerce platform that a personification makeup brand used paper packaging materials among its more than ten products. The brand uses pure paper plate design for eye shadow and blush products, and uses degradable oil paper to wrap lip glaze. It hopes to interpret the brand style through creative mixing of paper wrapping materials and other environmentally friendly materials.

However, from the current market situation, there are still a few brands that directly choose paper as skin care or makeup product packaging. Beauty product packaging supplier Albéa said that its "paper tubular packaging" has innovations in materials and manufacturing processes, but there are still restrictions on raw materials and machine capacity. The person in charge said frankly that due to technological bottlenecks, for many beauty products, paper materials are difficult to achieve through the existing injection molding and blow molding processes, and will not become the mainstream in the field of makeup in a short time. In addition, the price of biodegradable materials, including paper, is still high. For brands and consumers, paper materials also have certain limitations in highlighting the high-end image of products.

Food and catering industry "paper instead of plastic" into a trend

Although the pace of "replacing plastic with paper" in the cosmetics industry is limited, for the food industry, "replacing plastic with paper" seems to have become the development trend in the field of food packaging and takeaway catering packaging.

With the development of the domestic take-out industry, paper packaging has become the take-out packaging choice for many merchants. Reporters found in a take-out platform that almost half of the take-out merchants provide paper packaging boxes and paper packaging bags, and a few merchants use plastic bags as their main packaging bags. Xiao Li, a takeaway clerk, told reporters that a large part of the takeout he delivers now is made of paper. "In particular, some chain stores are all paper packaging, and plastic bag packaging is slowly decreasing."

In a chain of coffee shops, the reporter saw that the staff provided customers with an environmentally friendly paper straw. As early as April last year, the brand began to try to stop providing plastic straws in chain stores in Shanghai and Shenzhen and instead use direct drinking cup lids and paper straws. A number of domestic material suppliers have launched paper straws to attract more enterprises to choose.

In addition to paper straws, pulp tableware has also become the new darling of the food industry in recent years. A domestic environmental protection new material technology Co., Ltd. uses natural sugarcane pulp and other renewable resources as raw materials to produce green, non-toxic and harmless, 100 natural degradation of pulp tableware. The paper tableware products can be degraded within 31 days after use, turned into organic fertilizer to return to nature, reduced to carbon dioxide and water, and will not pollute the environment.

Under the advocacy of the national "plastic limit order", people will use paper products more and more widely, thus replacing the original plastic products. In the future, whether "replacing plastic with paper" will become a new choice for more industries and truly realize normalization and marketization is still difficult to draw a conclusion. However, it is not difficult to find from the application of paper products that if paper materials can make better solutions in terms of cost and practicality in the future, it may become a more attractive choice.
